The Digi PC/X is a non-intelligent multichannel serial communication board that is available in four- or eight-port configurations. It is compatible with Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus systems.

The Digi PC/X is ideal for small multi-user workgroups, as well as multiple point data acquisition, office and factory applications. Full modem support is provided for every serial port. Terminals, printers, modems, plotters, mice and other asynchronous serial peripherals are all fully supported. The Digi PC/X hardware is known for its compatibility with a wide range of operating systems. Put them to work for you today and see why Digi connectivity solutions are the smartest connection you can make.

Digi PC/X Hardware Features
The PC/X is available in four-port (Digi PC/4) and eight-port (Digi PC/8) configurations. Each port is an industry standard RS-232 asynchronous serial port with full modem control and hardware handshaking. Each channel is equipped with its own 16450 UART. A 16550 UART option, including FIFO buffers, is also available. Each channel offers independently selectable data transfer rates ranging from 50 bps to 56 Kbps, as well as independent definable character widths, stop-bits and parity.

Every Digi PC/X board has special interrupt logic to reduce host overhead and improve performance. Each time an interrupt occurs, the host needs only to perform a single I/O read to locate the port that needs service, even if multiple boards are installed. This eliminates the traditional polling of all ports for every interrupt. The result is a substantial decrease in the host CPU overhead and faster serial performance.

Connectors
Digi PC/X connector options include RJ-45 jacks, DB-25 I/O Mate box, DB-25 octopus cables or DB-9 octopus cables, all with full modem control. The RJ-45 option offers the greatest flexibility - if full modem control is not necessary for your application, standard RJ-11 telephone wire can be used and will supply both data and ground.
